From walled garden to wilderness and back again, the seeds have been sown for a new future for Aros Park Walled Garden.
Long-nurtured ideas and planting plans are beginning to germinate as part of an ambitious vision for Tobermory's garden in the forest.
Aros Park Walled Garden’s team of green-fingered volunteers will be breaking ground this summer. Could you lend a spade?
This project would never have got off the ground without the help and support of the following:
- Forest and Land Scotland (formerly Forestry Commission Scotland)
- Mull and Iona Community Trust
- Aros Park Historic Walled Garden Steering Group
- Mike Swift
Please come along to our working parties. This garden has been left for a really long time, so is in one heck of a state. There are weeds in there that are very well established, and they need to come out.
At the first working party we are looking to start clearing the site, but also, we need to know where the old paths were, and this will need careful pruning, digging and marking out. It’s not all heavy stuff, there will be plenty to do if you’re not strong. Please come and help.
